LA Music Review | Art, stories and advice

Posting on social media is really important as an Artist.
Often Artists donโt like the pressure of social media and often forget to post or choose not to. The good thing is there is a balance with social media, posting too much may cause people to unfollow you, posting too little can cause people to lose interest and unfollow you. Today Iโm going to be giving advice on how many posts I believe are a good amount each week on social media.
Firstly, in terms of stories on social media, I think posting a story everyday is a good idea, people can choose to view this by clicking it and it updates everyone on your day to day or perhaps a project you are working on.
In terms of posts, posting 3-4 times every other day is effective and something that I do regularly as a musician on social media. If there is a time where you have to promote more, posting everyday for a week on the lead up to a release for example, this can be the exception.
Posting content everyday is not only tiring but people will get bored very quickly. Its important to post every fews days, check in and post exciting things going on. For example, mid week my week tends to be very work focused but on the weekends I am gigging and seeing some amazing places, so I tend to post on weekends and show the exciting things that Iโm doing. I will also post if Iโm doing some admin on my story in the week, but I wouldnโt do a post about it.
Countdown posts are also a good way to get people hyped and so posting for 10 days straight can be done before a drop or release.
You donโt want to overload people with content and maybe switch up the content and make it different in terms of posting a picture and then posting a reel/video. Often reels are effective because they are shorter and people are more likely to watch them. Videos of 10-15 seconds tend to be the best for engagement.

My advice would be to post every other day, so Monday, Wednesday, Friday and then a Saturday or Sunday.
Four or five times may seem like a lot, if it feels like a lot drop it down to three to four. There is often a pressure with posting on social media, but you only need to post when you want to show your content or what youโre doing. It can also be different on each platform, if you are just getting started remember to post regularly or people may lose interest quickly. If you are on a platform like Facebook, you can post whenever something important is coming up to let people know to come along to a gig or that new music is on the way.
I hope this advice has helped you today with posting on social media. Thank you so much for reading and have a great week!
