LA Music Review | Art, stories and advice

Letting go when writing songs is something that I love to do, once Iโve written about a situation, I often think the chapter is done, the book is closed.
Letting go can be painful but when you are writing a song it almost makes it that bit easier when you write about what has hurt you. I often see writing songs as the beginning of my healing journey. When you can sing how youโre feeling and write it all down, it is very therapeutic.ย
Write about your current feelings and how you intend to let go, will finishing a song help you to let go of a situation. Healing takes a lot of reflecting and processing, which is why I really enjoy writing songs when I am healing. Once Iโve written something down, I tend to move on from it and not think about it as much.
This is mainly because I have processed and sat with my feelings for a bit and writing is out often does allow you to let go more easily. If you donโt process how youโre feeling it can often lead to writerโs block, being hung up on a problem is never good for creativity.
Concluding the song well with a happy ending too, even if your situation doesnโt end well, you can write about how youโre moving on and that its over now. In my songwriting I often end the song on a note of being better off without a person or better for not being involved in the same situation anymore.
Being sassy and even angry in your songs really does help you heal as you are letting your pain out through being creative. It is a healthy way to release stress and letting go in this way will help you heal and will make for a great song!
I hope this has helped you in your creativity and healing today!
