Hi Janah, welcome to LA Music Review! Tell us a little bit about you and your music.
Hi LAMR! I’m Janah Rapas! Writing songs is my favorite thing to do. Whenever I feel certain emotions, I grab my guitar and turn my feelings into art through music. My songs are like my diary entries. I usually write songs on my bedroom floor with my pencil capo. Constructing words in metaphors and creating melodies is very therapeutic for me.

Congrats on the release! What was your inspiration when you were writing this project?
Released on March 8, 2024. The first line that came to mind when I wrote the song was, “Mga tipo mo’y mestiza na chinita.” People often prefer fair-skinned and chinita girls, as they consider them more beautiful.

Mga tipo mo’y mestiza na chinita
Habang ako’y morenang dalagang Pilipina
Tingnan mo naman ako sa mga mata mo
‘Wag kang kumaripas ng takbo
While there’s nothing wrong with this preference, it’s unfortunate that only a few people appreciate the Filipina morena beauty. So, I wrote a song about it in a hopeless romantic form. This song aims to inspire and represent all the morena girls out there who embody the true essence of a dalagang Filipina.
What lessons would you like to impart with your audience?
All women are beautiful. Beauty knows no bounds, regardless of skin color, face features, and body type. True beauty lies within so we should never underestimate the power of a woman.
