Hi Thoughts and Notions, welcome to LA Music Review! Tell us a little bit about you and your music.

Thoughts And Notions is a songwriting trio from Cagayan de Oro…

that aims to write songs to help uplift wounded souls. We started our music career in 2004 by writing an album worth of songs to be sold as a fund raising project for our Church.

The album was later on picked up by a Record Label for Nationwide Distribution.

The band went indie after that, playing in various bar gigs and Church gigs. Bridging the gap between mainstream music and Church Music. The high point was getting nominated to the NU Rock Awards for College Band of the year. But soon after the went on a 10 year hiatus before re-emerging in the Digital Age of Music.

Congrats on the release! What was your inspiration when you were writing this project?

It has always been about the mission to help uplift wounded souls.

Released on August 15, 2022. Before re-emerging from the long hiatus, the main songwriter was in some form of anxiety and depression due to the pandemic. Going back into songwriting made him realize that the songs that he used to write was also speaking about him. That he is also that wounded soul at is was when we started.

So upon re-emerging, he decided to finish an old song, and re-wrote some parts of it. In a way telling everyone that there is always A Brand New Reason for everything. May it be Love, Faith, Relationships, and just a new lease on life!

What is your vision for this song?

The vision for this project is mainly about reconnecting with an audience that seeks to be redeemed by the emotional and spiritual damage caused by the Pandemic.

So as a new song is released after more than 10 years, Thoughts And Notions is trying to connect with a new generation of songwriters in this Digital Music Age and hopefully inspire them in some way to continue writing truthful and honest songs that expresses their emotions.

It doesn’t matter if it becomes hit songs or not, as long as it connect to the rightful audience. And as the Digital Age of Music makes music consumption more easier, then finding the rightful audience is no longer as hard as it was before.

What is your favorite part of this body of work?

Thoughts And Notions has always been known from their Pop/Rock sounding songs as evidence by our past two albums. So this new song presents as a twist to our listeners. In a way, we have acknowledged that we have grown over the years. And our old listeners have grown with us and might have forgotten about us during the years of absence.

So we are hoping that this new song would connect to a new set of listeners while also drawing back our old listeners that there is something new to listen to in the rebirth of some sorts. And of course, with a new featured vocalist for this song, Ms. Kai Huyno, we are hoping to highlight her vocal strengths too.

Anything else we should know about it? Future releases?

Thoughts And Notions is currently in transition in the sense that we won’t be having our old vocalist to sing our songs for the moment. So expect future releases to be more about collaboration and launching new artists on the platform of what Thoughts And Notions has built as a brand. So every new song will feature a new sound and a new voice. We are just so happy to be back in the songwriting and recording process. And we look forward to work with more talented artists that deserves to be heard on a global scale.
