Upbeat, lively and truly inspiring!

Following their heartbreak song Next Week, Filipino pop-rock band Moonstar88 who popularized Torete, Sulat, and Panalangin is back with “Parola”, their latest single from the upcoming album entitled Lourdes 2088.

With Maysh Baay (vocals/guitar), Buddy Zabala (bass), Bon Sundiang (drums/vocals), and Herbert Hernandez (lead guitar), the band continues to create magnificent songs that everyone can relate to.

The breathtaking and lovely view at the top of Batanes inspired Herbert Hernandez, the band’s lead guitarist to write the song “Parola”. The lyrics of the song were based on everything that captured his eye in this lovely province … from House of Stones (Bahay na Bato) up to the flowers that surround the place.

What surprised Herbert, however, was the “Parola”, or lighthouse in english, is one of the major attractions in Batanes.

Yung hangin walang hinto
Sa bahay gawang bato
Nabibingi bawat ihip
Kwento mo naririnig
Ang bundok at ang langit
Unti-unting nagsasanib
Mahirap kang balikan
Wag mo akong kalimutan
Pag ika’y nasa laot
Walang mahanap na sagot
Hanapin lang ang ilaw
Andito lang naghihintay

It’s such a joy to hear an uplifting song from Moonstar88 to start the year! “Parola” has a catchy tune that will make you want to listen repeatedly. No wonder this song was playlisted on New Music Friday Philippines on Spotify.

You’ll be captivated by the first note! I’m sure this will be a go-to song for a road trip. It gives a peaceful and positive vibe. You’ll feel relaxed and comforted.

The song highlights how we can be each other’s Parola (guiding light) that never burns out, especially for those who need it.

Who do you consider as your Parola?

Parola
Andito lang ako
Parola
‘Di napupundi
Parola
Ang ilaw sa dagat
Parola
Hindi namamatay

This is a sure OPM hit, with its LSS (last song syndrome) factor, where you can easily follow the melody and lyrics. Kudos to Herbert for the brilliant songwriting! Although the lyrics are simple, it captivates the listeners.

The lyrics exactly described what it’s like to appreciate the beauty of the lighthouse in Batanes. The sweet sounding vocals provided the bright and lively feel of the song. The right blend of guitars, drums, and riffs is just on point to perfectly tell the story. I also love the backup vocals in the chorus part (Parola…..).

Hinahanap…
‘Pag ‘di natanaw
Nag-aalala
Sa ‘yo…

The song successfully delivered its message on how we should appreciate the beauty of nature. It also highlighted the importance of acknowledging people who constantly light up our lives just like the lighthouse (Parola). It can be our significant other, friends, family, or our source of everything, God.
