LA Music Review | Art, stories and advice
Fun, fresh and totally meaningful!
“Overcast” is Kyle’s first ever release!
Back when Kyle was a student at West Suffolk College he asked his teacher for some advice on a demo he had created. He was expecting the kind of advice you would expect from any production teacher. “More compression on the vocals”, “Boost the EQ around 500Hz” etc.
The response he got however was very different. Andy Guy(A teacher at West Suffolk College) liked the song so much that he offered to fully record, mix and master the song alongside some talented production students for free.
After finishing this “Smashing pumpkins ” inspired Pop/Rock/Indie track, Kyle knew that if there was any chance that the song would get the attention it deserved he needed a music video to market the song. As you can imagine, being a broke college student this was always going to be a challenge.
After two years of searching and facing multiple barriers…
Kyle made the bold decision to move to Manchester, believing it to be the best music city in the UK. There he sought out every possible opportunity to perform, playing between 4 to 6 open mics a week.
At one of these open mics (The Flour and Flagon) run by Michael Webster, Kyle met Max Macmillan, a talented videographer. The collaboration resulted in Max recording the music video for “Overcast” on ironically, one of the hottest days of the year. It was so hot in fact that the tram taking them back into Manchester from Didsbury village suffered from melting and they had to get the bus.
