Hi Brendon, welcome to LA Music Review! Tell us a little bit about you and your music.

With Brendon Mac’s confident voice and winning stage presence, this seasoned recording artist is fusing elements of classic country, rock, blues and R&B into what rockabilly truly means and is becoming that next artist whose inevitable rise is already attracting the ears of country fans and beyond. Growing up in The Great Lake State but now residing in Pueblo, Colorado, music was always a part of Brendon’s childhood.

What started at the age of 5 when his grandfather took him to The Alpena Lumberman’s Chorus (Barbershop practice). His mother sang in church every week and he was always referred to as the ‘musical child’ in his family.

To this day, Brendon lists Johnny Cash amongst his biggest influences, also throwing in the likes of Elvis, Carl Perkins, Carlene Carter, Marty Stuart and Brian Setzer from the Stray Cats. These artists released music with a strong message and makes the listeners feel happy.

He now strives to bring the same joy through his original music.

“All of my originals come from the heart. My inspiration comes from years of trials and tribulations on this earth. My wish is that my music makes an impact on someone’s life. If I can take someone to a special place or time for 2 minutes in a song or 2 hours on stage, then I have done my job. Mission complete.”

With dreams of playing big venues and performing on the Grand Ole Opry, one thing is certain. Brendon Mac has big plans for the future, and based on what we’ve already seen, that future has even greater plans for him.

Congrats on the release! What was your inspiration when you were writing this project?

Released on February 24, 2023. This song as we know is beautifully penned by June Carter and Merle Kilgore. It was one of Johnny Cash’s biggest hits. He is my country music idol and primary musical influence.

I wanted to honor him with my arrangement of his hit “Ring of Fire” and showcase that country music is still country music.

What is your vision for this song? What lessons would you like to impart to your audience?

My vision or expectations for my “Ring of Fire” cover have already been exceeded as we have been featured on All Access Nashville – Cool New Music section 4 times since the song was released. We’re currently at 500,000 streams on Spotify and we have made our way into 158 countries worldwide. It is all very humbling for me and my wife Linda.

My best advice for any aspiring artist is to figure out who you are and then run with it. Be true to yourself and your brand. Stand your ground and believe in what you are doing. Just be you!

What is your favorite part of this song?

My favorite body of work for the “Ring of Fire” cover was laying down my vocal tracks at my producer’s, Gary Carter-GC Music, studio in Burns, TN. I had my wife sitting in the studio and inspiring me to sing with fire and passion. That same fire and passion that I feel in my heart for her.

Anything else we should know about? Future releases?

I am currently working on writing new material which will be released later this year as well as my first EP. The best is yet to come! We will also be releasing my merchandise so check out my website for more info and follow me on my socials below.
