Nikita Lev remains unbothered in “Like I Care”

LA Music Review | Art, stories and advice

Honest and relaxing!

Hi Nikita, welcome back to LA Music Review! Tell us a little bit about you and your music.

I’m Nikita Lev, born and bred in NYC, and moved to LA last September. I don’t really know how to define my music. I don’t try to set rules or boundaries for myself. There are feelings that I want to emote and evoke, but I think that comes with individual songs.

Sometimes songs are deep and emotional. Sometimes, they’re just fun. Songs are just feelings. Feelings, on my experience, is the most indefinable thing.

Congrats on the release! What was your inspiration when you were writing this project?

Released on April 24, 2023. Thank you! I was listening to a lot of Leonard Cohen when I wrote this one. I remember I was homesick, so I had nothing really on the brain specifically to write about. So more than anything, this song is about a feeling rather than an experience.

What is your vision for this song?

Just like a rainy Sunday in New York without anything to do or anyone to see so you let your mind wander.

What is your favorite part of this song?

Honestly, I’m just happy to get it out there. I’m proud of the work we’ve done.

Anything else we should know about? Future releases? Recent events?

I have two more songs coming out after this one and currently working on more which I’m so stoked about.

I recently performed at Bar Lubitsch last April 27.
