LA Music Review | Art, stories and advice
Upbeat, full of fireworks, and totally entertaining!

Hi Rise High, welcome to LA Music Review! Tell us a little bit about you and your music.
We are Rise High, an all-Filipino music band, all coming from different backgrounds in music. With our experiences we can say that sharing our original song is a way of giving back to people.
Our band started out almost a decade ago as a vehicle to write and perform original material made by founder/guitarist/vocalist, Edil Luyon.

The rest of the band’s current line-up consists of: Lura Angeles (vocalist), Philippe Arriola (bassist/vocalist), Dave Erin (guitarist), Jonathan Borja and Joseph Rivera (drummer).

The music of Rise High revolves and continues to evolve around the many aspects of hope, love, and life.
We hope we can inspire more people to dream and reach their goals in life. We create a unique blend of rock, pop, jazz and alternative music. We aim to put OPM on the global stage and inspire others to follow in our footsteps.
Our compositions took a natural course of development in terms of arrangement and textures, mainly due to the numerous talented personnel that shared their musical gifts with the band during their respective tenures.
Congrats on the release! What was your inspiration when you were writing this project?
Released on April 28, 2023. Our inspiration with the song “Peli Cola,” is loving a person doesn’t mean he or she will love you back, and it’s okay. Someday you will find someone who is right for you.

What is your vision for this song? What lessons would you like to impart with your audience?

Sometimes we have dreams and aspirations that we want to achieve but in the end sometimes things doesn’t go along our way. But it is okay, as long as you have done ways for your dreams. You may not be able to reach what you want but lessons that you were able to learn are far more important. Also, being able to accepts things and moving on is part of life.
What is your favorite part of this body of work?
The message.
Anything else we should know about? Upcoming events?
