Welcome Better Silence to LA Music Review! Tell us a little bit about you and your music.
Better Silence is a Filipino rock band from Lucena City, Quezon Province…
formed in April 2022 by Sky Cabiles ( guitars ), R-e Esguerra (guitars) , Reysol Rodriguez (vocals) , Jervin Leynes (Bass) and ER De Mesa (drums).We came from all different bands and agreed to form this new one.
Better Silence was originally formed under the name Set Sail by R-e then Sky was responsible for coining the name Better Silence whose style varied from alt-indie to experimental rock with a bit of post-hardcore influences. Together they write their original songs which has been regarded for their catchy lead guitar riffs with delays as a form of creating melodies.

Congrats on the release! What was your inspiration when you were writing this project?
Right now I’m inspired by the people and things in my life.
Sometimes, everyday occurrences. Like our first single “Disease”, Sky Cabiles our guitarist sent me the video of the full instrumental demo through messenger to create lyrics and melody.
At that time I was working in a pharmacy and all I can think about is about medicine around me and my mentally-illed brother.
The way I interpreted the sound is like a combination of sadness and hope so I got that inspiration with how I’m feeling. I wrote that song that starts sad, and ends happy.
What is your vision for this song?
We always wanted to be professional musicians, someday signed to any label records that toured around Asia and played in front of large audiences and released records and sold merchandise and put on large concert performances.
And most importantly, we wanted to promote to our target listeners to feel or relate to our songs and our lyrics really spoke to their day-to-day problems and help make them feel better about their lives.
What is your favorite part of this body of work?
We’re surrounded by the debris of the past.
Music will always be an escape to us of the bulls**t, that surrounds us every second of the day.
My favorite part of this passion project band is being excited as always on the songwriting process, it’s like magic.

This coming we’ll start recording our second song at Glitching Forever Records Lucena City, Quezon Province, Philippines.
