LA Music Review | Art, stories and advice
Fun, fresh and totally meaningful!

Hi Diya, welcome to LA Music Review! Tell us a little bit about you and your music.
I’m Diya Maeve, a singer – songwriter from Mumbai, India.
At first, I began my training in Indian Classical music, and then gravitated towards other genres after discovering songwriting. I thought it was beautiful how a combination of words and melodies could make someone feel safe, and understood.
So, songwriting became my way of telling stories and communicating with people. Even today, nothing can beat the joy of getting a song or lyric idea and turning it into a song! My inspirations include Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Phoebe Bridgers, Coldplay, etc. All I want is for my songs to be what other artists’ songs have been to me – a warm hug of love and understanding.
Congrats on the release! What was your inspiration when you were writing this project?
I first wrote this song only on the guitar.
Released December 30, 2022. It’s a song about the feeling of falling in love, and about how the smallest or simplest moments with a special someone can feel profound – all one needs is someone’s warm embrace along with everything that life gives you.
The name of the song ‘Me, You, & the Stars’ is inspired by late night simple, funny, deep, meaningful, and also silly conversations under a sky full of stars.

What is your vision for this song?
This is the first song from an upcoming EP to be released soon. The whole EP tells a certain story if heard in order. This song “Me, You, & the Stars” chronologically stands at the beginning of the EP. Though it is about the feeling of falling in love, other songs on the EP will explore other emotions, and realisations too.
Telling stories through songs is what I love to do…
hence, I wanted to tell a story through the upcoming EP. This song is just the first chapter, and the audience can look forward to soon-to-be-announced songs that will act as further chapters in the EP.
What is your favorite part of this body of work?
My favourite part of this song is the songwriting.
I think the lyrics have simplicity, yet portray raw emotions. The narrator in the lyrics conveys lyrics that have a hint of innocence and truth in them. I like how the lyrics, emotions, and soundscape of the song go hand in hand.
Being creative is next to godliness. Continue your passion with additional zeal. Wish you all success always.
