Congrats on the release! What was your inspiration when you were writing this project?

Released on February 10, 2022. My parents and my upbringing were the main inspiration for this song. I started writing it in the Fall of 2021, shortly before my mom was diagnosed with cancer. She passed in early 2022, and this song became even more meaningful. I’m an introspective person. This song reflects my upbringing, having been born and raised on a farm in Southwest Saskatchewan. This song shares a personal experience and message that is still very relevant today.

What is your vision for this song? What lessons would you like to impart with your audience?

I hope this song will connect to the listeners on a deeper level when they reflect on their own lives and their ‘roots’ in terms of family and even community. I wanted to let my listeners know that even though things around them have changed, their ‘roots’ will always be the same, and that’s vital.

What is your favorite part of the song?

My favorite part of this song is the line that reads, “The winds of change have come but the one thing that remains is, all of this love, in These Roots.” It’s the focal point because it tells the listeners exactly what it’s about and leaves the message that while things may change, your ‘roots’ will stay the same.

Anything else we should know about? Future releases?

I plan on releasing a music video for “These Roots” soon, along with some more songs to come. Keep an eye out on my social platforms and my website to get all the latest info including tour dates as well.
