Hi Lil Jumbo, welcome to LA Music Review! Tell us a little bit about you and your music.

Hello! I’m Lil Jumbo, I have been making music since I was 12. I write, record, and mix all my music and play all the instruments. This new project I released has my most personal touch on it and believe these songs must be listened to.

Congrats on the release! What was your inspiration when you were writing this project?

Released on February 10, 2023. “Stay Punk” is my latest album this year which presents a message of being yourself. During the two years of production, I learned that if you stay true to yourself, you will be happier because your values and morals are intact. We should never hide our true selves just to fit in because I believe trying to fit in means succumbing to the weight of everyday society and letting go of your true dreams and goals.

What is your vision for this song? What lessons would you like to impart with your audience?

I want the audience to listen to the whole album and realize they can be happy just being themselves. One of the first lines on the album states, “Look at yourself in the mirror and appreciate, because that is who you are, and that is who you will ever be.”

I feel like people are used to comparing themselves to others to fit in, but be happy with what you look like, on how you act, and learn to accept and embrace your uniqueness—your true self. Stay punk!

What is your favorite part of this body of work?

I think the first song where I explain the reasons behind the the making of the album is my favorite part. I really dive into my own thoughts and feelings about being yourself and explain to people what the message of the album is. When you listen to all the songs, you see that every song has its own little message of sticking to who you are.

Anything else we should know about it? Future releases?

I plan on straying away from simple hip-hop beats and sounds and wish to incorporate more instruments and make more creative and personal music.
