The Titos captivates our hearts with “La Sirena”

LA Music Review | Art, stories and advice

Romantic, honest, and captivating!

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Hi The Titos, welcome to LA Music Review! Tell us a little bit about you and your music.

Started in 2019 by college friends having a common interest in music, they have evolved into a 5-piece band, “The Titos,” hoping to be one of the most successful bands in the country.

The band members are John Angelo Jose (vocalist), Adrian Capumpue (vocalist/guitars), Angelo Gabriel Paz (guitars), Christian Emerson Sandoval (bass), and Josiah Bien Santiago (drums).

Their songs are diverse and not defined by one genre alone. From stories of love and hope to songs filled with grief and sorrow, The Titos is a band for sad boys/sad girls, and happy couples alike.

Congrats on the release! What was your inspiration when you were writing this project?

Released on February 13, 2023. The inspiration for the song is a mix of two famous fictional stories. Marvel’s “What If,” series tells alternate possibilities in the world of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the story of Disney’s The Little Mermaid.

In this song, we wanted to reverse roles in the story. It is what if the prince was the one that went after Ariel in the sea? What would the prince do? How far can the prince go to find the love of his life?

What is your vision for this song? What lessons would you like to impart with your audience?

The vision for this project is to culminate all the lessons, skills, and emotions we’ve gathered as a band over the past year.

The lesson we would like to impart to our audience regarding La Sirena is to constantly seek ideas from what’s available—experiences, favorite shows, and stories when creating our art.

What is your favorite part of this body of work?

The last chorus (from the build-up to the outro) is our favorite part of our song. Somehow it summarizes who The Titos is, in terms of musicality. With two vocalists in the band, we wanted to maximize this by adding “cascading” or sagutan lines to the song.

Anything else we should know about? Future releases? Upcoming events?

For upcoming gigs, we usually perform on monthly open mic events hosted by our org in Pampanga, Songwriters Cabalen Community. For releases, we’re hoping to release at least two more songs before this year ends.
