Hi Michael, welcome to LA Music Review! Tell us a little bit about you and your music.

I’m Michael Kevin, an independent singer-songwriter from Angeles City, Pampanga. I use songwriting as an outlet for my ideas that I find difficult to express loudly. My music genres are alternative, pop, and ballad-style. I usually tell stories of love and heartbreak.

Congrats on the release! What was your inspiration when you were writing this project?

Sa Aking Piling” was greatly influenced by the song “Tahanan” by Munimuni, a Filipino indie pop band.

Released on March 10, 2023. I instantly fell in love with “Tahanan” when I first heard it, to the point where I felt compelled to write my own version of it, which became “Sa Aking Piling”. You can hear similarities in the lyrics of the two songs if you try listening to them.

What is your vision for this song?

Through this song, I want my listeners to feel that someone is willing to listen to their endless stories about life’s frustrations without judgment.

What is your favorite part of this body of work?

It’s always this part (The second half of the chorus):

Kalimutan na muna ang iyong pighati,
Sa aking piling, ika’y manatili
.”

Anything else we should know about it? Future releases?

“Sa Aking Piling” is the third track from my first full-length album, “Pag-ibig at Kabiguan,” which is currently available on all streaming platforms. After my debut album, I’m planning to release more music this year.
