Soulful and truly empowering!

Hi Jenane, welcome to LA Music Review! Tell us a little bit about you and your music.

Nashville pop/R&B artist Jenane grew up biracial and was heavily influenced by the R&B styles popularized by black artists, and loves to fuse them with the contemporary pop styles of today. Her Lebanese mother instilled in her a love for music that makes you want to dance, and that love is clear when you see her rocking the stage.
Jenane is also one of three front women for the on the rise all girl group ElectraQueens, who have performed with Kevin Bacon and collaborated with Kathy Sledge of Sister Sledge fame. The queens have acquired over 124K followers on TikTok with their You Sing Melody style videos.
Jenane is a social media queen herself, with over 400K followers on instagram and nearly 700K followers on TikTok with her viral voice lesson videos. She is also a staple member of the traveling band Party Down, who have been seen across the country.

Raised in Peachtree City, GA – a suburban town 30 minutes south of Atlanta – Jenane found her passion for music and performance at an early age. With her versatile, powerful voice, her talent for singing became evident and she immediately surrounded herself with music of all kinds. Choir, band, theater, and multiple talent shows defined her years in grade school, and she later went on to graduate from Nashville’s Belmont University with a degree in Commercial Music. Ever since graduating, Jenane has been performing all over the southeastern U.S for packed crowds who go wild for her insane vocals and magnetic personality on stage.

Congrats on the release! What lessons would you like to impart to your audience?
Finding one’s true power is the core message of “Light Up”. It’s an anthem about finding inner strength. The first verse illustrates this with the lines:
I never knew
What a fever was like
Until I felt the fire
The chorus goes on to share the feeling of having the fire lit inside of you and growing until you “light up.”
What is your favorite part of the song?
In true modern pop-R&B style, “Light Up” heavily focuses on Jenane’s vocal talents, showing off her range and honed sound. The instrumental track behind her vocals, while lush with sound, is primarily a synth that never overtakes Jenane’s voice.
“Light Up” has soaring moments in the Chorus when the energy builds up, emulating the feeling of a fire growing stronger. Meanwhile, a simple percussive track adds energy and grit to the song, keeping everything feeling grounded.
